Pleasurable Pause Press

Author Chats

aIMG-1373.jpg

Do you have a group that is eager to press the pause button? If so, I would be happy to come and chat with you. It's one of the things I love to do most.

My author chats are designed to do the same thing my books do… provide people with a pleasurable pause. I don’t pretend to know it all, and I don’t have a list of rules or a playbook for you to follow. Instead, I have a collection of universal ‘pearls of wisdom’ to share, each connected by a common thread of celebrating the choice to disconnect.

In a device-free environment, I re-create the warmth and connectivity I have always felt at my lake cottage and when I’m in the company of good friends like Francina from Stay for Lunch. With some tasty nibbles  (usually a recipe from one of my books) and a drink in hand (champagne optional), we will explore some of my ‘aha’ moments -- the personal anecdotes that helped me clarify what it means to choose to disconnect, purposefully, in order to reconnect more intimately with ourselves, our friends, our family and the natural environment around us.

Whether we are creating a Pleasant Lake State of Mind through a discussion from Come To The Lake or examining the joys of faith and friendship through the eyes of Francina from Stay For Lunch, my goal is to provide a pleasurable, and thought provoking pause.

Hopefully I can help you re-discover how to create pleasurable pauses in your own life, one disconnection at a time.

Anne Goodwin discusses her book with Jeff Robbins, Director of the Sun Prairie Media Center.

What past attendees say

We had the pleasure of having Anne as a speaker for our women’s weekend at the Spa at Pinehurst. Anne Goodwin’s workshop was an interactive and wonderful addition to our wellness weekend and she is a very engaging and thought provoking speaker on the concept of wholeness. I would recommend Anne for any Spa or Wellness Center hoping to add a level of wellbeing to their program. She was fantastic!”
— Dustin Donahue, Spa Operations Manager, The Spa at Pinehurst

I was lucky enough to see Anne Goodwin speak at a retreat weekend for a group of women who had come together specifically to relax and take care of themselves. Anne’s book and her talk were a perfect fit for that weekend of self-care. Anne is an engaging speaker – with a charming storytelling style. She sets the context for drawing people in with a special champagne cocktail (from the book) and bookmarks that illuminate important take-aways from the book. Messages that give us permission to craft the life we desire. Life lessons learned by watching your sons grow into manhood or visiting the same sanctuary in a kayak every day for many years. My personal favorites are – To truly connect today - one must choose to disconnect and Take time to reflect – watch your ripples spread.
— Susan H., Participant, Women's Wellness Weekend, The Spa at Pinehurst

One of my favorite highlights from Pinehurst Resort’s Girls’ Spa Weekend was the “Chat with a Twist”. There’s no better way to celebrate life and wellness than with Anne Goodwin sharing insights and anecdotes from her book, Come to the Lake, while we sipped champagne cocktails. Anne’s interactive format engaged and delighted. Her reflections reminded us all to live in the moment, cherish our memories, and enjoy the simple pleasures all around us in every moment. I later made it all the way through dinner without taking a picture to post of my sumptuous meal. Guess what? It was still wonderful and is now a happy memory. Thanks Anne!

All I can say is WOW. It was a treat to have you visit our book club, it was the highlight of our year. You have an easy, friendly manner and we enjoyed the creative way you shared your story and passions. We were missing five members. I encouraged each of them to read and touch your book in order to fully appreciate it.

I so enjoyed your fabulous talk at Camp Manitowish! You were engaging and inspirational and the thoughts that you shared about your time at the lake and paddling so resonated with me. I love how you connected with the deeper meaning of being on the water and in nature, and how those insights apply to life itself. I felt a kinship with you immediately.

Your book, Come to the Lake, is a beautiful collection of stories and memories that so many of us who love the lakes and time shared there with loved ones can relate to. It is a treasure for all ages! Keep up your inspiring work!
— Mary Anne, Red Kayak Institute

Anne Goodwin is one of the most captivating and charming speakers it’s ever been my pleasure to hear. But she is more than just a speaker. By the end of her delightful, insightful and utterly thoughtful presentation, she was the new best friend of every person in the room! Our entire audience – both men and woman alike – came away with their spirits lifted and their hearts ignited after hearing the inspiring story of Annie and the remarkable Francina.
— Tammy K. Epes, Member Services Manager, Shenandoah Club

Anne’s “Francina’s Calling!” chat was relevant for anyone, it was moving, filled with words of encouragement, and inspiring! Her story left me compelled to share – I bought a copy of her book, Stay for Lunch, for each member of my organization’s leadership team encouraging each of them, too, to take a pleasurable pause!
— Frank G. Carter, President & CEO, Member One Federal Credit

The BWP Meetup Community had two, back-to-back, powerful gatherings with two awesome women of purpose and passion. After a night of powerful messages, we were again rocked and inspired by Anne Goodwin, author of the award-winning book, “Stay For Lunch.” Again, gracious, lovely, as well as truly inspiring. Another rainy evening, 15 women came to learn, share and be inspired by Anne.
— Carolyn Townsend, Coach, Women of Purpose, NYC

At Afternoon Tea with Anne Goodwin, our guests were captivated and engaged as Anne shared her story of faith and friendship with us. Her relationship with Francina reminds us all that we should welcome opportunities to touch the lives of those we encounter, and in turn be blessed ourselves.
